-I assume it's like horse ownership - yer actual horse isn't that costly it's the stabling, pasture etc.
Was observing small, privately owned, propeller aircraft landing at an airport today, along with the commercial stuff, and just pondered how rich you have to be. Felt sick jealous!Love the answers above!
You can get a pretty good "real" aircraft with Certificate or Airworthiness (CofA) and full maintenance history for about 25k.
But that's a mistake.
The costs of maintenance, hangar, landing fees etc ARE the problem.
You will be much better of to get your PPL, then RENT a plane!
I rent a C152 in Portim茫o (Algarve, Portugal) for 70鈧?hr, WET (with fuel), brake to break.
For the price of the aircraft, I could fly 357 hours...
In Uk, the P-38, for 拢110/hr, break to break.
Worth owning one?
I don't think so, unless you intend to fly 100 hours+ a month (with "C"pl, so you can get paid...)
EDIT:
You can rent a Spitfire in Uk (don't remember the airfield): you must have 10-15 hrs on another model with instructor, at 拢400/hr, then you will have use of the Spit solo for 拢500/hr...I think I've seen two seat Cessna 150's for around $20k. That's the cheapest I've ever seen aircraft
Toys aircraft.
ToysRus :D
Well you see, first you need a sheet of paper and then...............
Spitfire? there very old
